North Seymour Island Tour

The great theatre of the seabirds

From Santa CruzFull day · 7 to 8 hoursModerate

The experience

North Seymour is probably the best place in Galápagos to watch seabirds up close. Its trails cross colonies of frigatebirds with their red throat pouches inflated, blue-footed boobies in full courtship display, and golden land iguanas resting among the palo santo scrub.

The excursion combines an interpretive walk across the island with a snorkelling stop in nearby waters, where turtles, sea lions and shoals of tropical fish usually appear.

Frigatebirds and land iguanas

Walk within a few metres of magnificent and great frigatebird nests, blue-footed boobies and land iguanas in their natural habitat.

Courtship all year round

Seymour keeps its colonies active year-round: there are always courtship displays, chicks or juveniles to photograph.

Snorkelling to finish

After the walk, a snorkelling session to cool off among sea lions, rays and reef fish.
